This year no aquatic insects showed up. I noticed that something was amiss by the end of May, and was a bit saddened by it. I have about thirteen snails to tend to right now, so I figured that maybe it was for the best – but I couldn’t help being disappointed.

You can imagine my surprise when this little one showed up in the middle of August. Frankly, I had no idea they could hatch later than May. As she perched on my kitchen window, I greeted her with the biggest smile imaginable. Oh what a happy day!
